Lunch and Learn Series with Marie Liu

March 12 @ 6:30 am

Grey Towers Heritage Association is announcing the latest in its Lunch and Learn Series,
“The History of Art in the Minisink/Pocono Region and the Pinchot Connection” with artist Marie Liu.
With numerous images and examples, Marie will introduce the attendees to the artists who have captured the region through their art and some of the artists that have called this place home.  She will be highlighting the art collection of James Pinchot and his connection to the famous Hudson River School and their shared contribution to the burgeoning Conservation movement of that era.  She also discusses how factors such as geography, geology, religion and war all played a role in the artistic output reflecting the Minisink region.
Her research on this topic began as an educational component to her Artist Residency for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in 2016.  The presentation has grown over the years as she discovers more and more.  She continues to present the information through many venues and organizations as well as articles on the subject for Pocono Living Magazine, all of which have been received with great interest.
GTHA supports the efforts of the US Forest Service to preserve and maintain the integrity of the historic Grey Towers National Historic Site and to strengthen the connection of Grey Towers to our communities.
This series of afternoon lectures focus on interesting topics that relate to the Pinchot family, followed by lunch and discussion.  A variety of homemade soups will be served.
The event will take place on March 12 at 11:30 am (snow date March 19) at the Pike County Public Library, 119 East Harford St. Milford PA 18337.  Space is limited, reservations can be made at greytowers.org/events.
