3/25/17 – Better Kid Care: Parental Resilience, 8:30 – 10:30 AM, Wayne/Pike Workforce Alliance, 92 Main Avenue, Hawley, PA 18428. Fee: $7. No one can eliminate stress from parenting, but a parent’s capacity for resilience can affect how a parent deals with stress. Resilience is the ability to manage and bounce back from all types of challenges that emerge in every family’s life. It means finding ways to solve problems, building and sustaining trusting relationships including relationships with your own child, and knowing how to seek help when necessary. 3/25/17 – Better Kid Care: Social Connections, 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM, Wayne/Pike Workforce Alliance, 92 Main Avenue, Hawley, PA 18428. Fee: $7. Networks of support are essential to parents and also offer opportunities for people to “give back”, an important part of self-esteem as well as a benefit for the community. Isolated families may need extra help in reaching out to build positive relationships. Pre-registration, including payment, is required by March 23. 3/25/17 – Integrated Pest Management in the Garden, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Penn State Extension office, 724 Phillips St, Suite 201, Stroudsburg PA 18360. Registration will begin at 9:45 AM. A 5.00 fee will be taken at the door to support the Master Gardeners of Monroe County’s efforts to provide continuing gardening education to the public. This workshop will be devoted to raised beds, row covers and low tunnels, starting seeds indoors, and a tomato and pepper planting workshop. Cost: $10.
